Italy may soon be home

italymaygetunlockediphones423.jpgItaly may soon be home to a whole bunch of unlocked iPhones. According to La Repubblica, a daily in Rome, "Telecom Itlalia has signed a non-exclusive deal to distribute a new, 3-G compatible iPhone" that won't be locked and won't require a two-year contract. Buying an Unlocked iPhone in Chinatown

buying%20unlocked%20iphone%20in%20chinatown%20new%20york.jpgSure, you could do it yourself, but why not trust a kindly Chinese wireless professional to sell you a pre-unlocked iPhone already free of those pesky carrier and software restrictions? Join legions of fans dedicated to chiseling Apple and Cingular out of their hard-earned monopolistic dollars. No need to actually learn stuff or crack open a phone yourself. An unlocked iPhone costs $600 on New York's Mott Street, putting it a stiff $200 over the regular price. But that's a small price to pay for sticking it to the man, if that man is Steve Jobs.

Paris for Apple Geeks

paris%20for%20apple%20geeks.jpgTechnogeeks around Paris are gearing up for the Apple Expo September 25-29 at the Porte de Versailles. iPhone NYC Booze Finder

iphone%20booze%20finder%20new%20york.jpgFinally, a proper use for your $600 albatross -- a slick version of the New York on Tap bar database designed specifically for the iPhone. It doesn't incorporate the glitzy full-fledged map yet, but full search (by name, address, or cross street) is enabled. Just try not to drop the phone while fat-finger (and drunk-finger) dialing in the next whiskey bar.

iPhornication Photo Map Updated!

iphone%20line%20gallery%20updated.jpgMAKE IT STOP! The already corpulent National iPhone Line Gallery map has been updated with several dozen new shots from yesterday through last night and this morning. (patience, it can take awhile to update.) Clowns, kids, dogs, and various other iPhone line-sitting psychos may be found everywhere from Albuquerque to New York to San Francisco to Los Angeles to Augusta. And so, we pass the torch on this topic back to Gizmodo, which is all over the visual aspect via a constantly updated Flickr gallery of linesitters from all over. Direct your further energies and line photo submissions their way, as they'll be running hot new material all the way to today's 6 p.m. iPhone salepocalypse and well beyond.

Nationwide iPhone Line Gallery

national%20iphone%20line%20gallery.jpgThe Apple nerds are out in force, lining up to buy iPhones not just in major megalopoli, but even in the far suburbs and hinterlands. Line-sittah Greg Packer at NYC's 5th Avenue Apple Store is over-exposed in more ways than one. Instead, admire the fortitude of another G-man -- George Thaut, "17-year-old waiter at a rice-pudding restaurant" camping out in front of an AT&T store in Orem, Utah. George the Younger narrowly beats out the seven-month-old baby heading up the line in Palo Alto for the title of linesman extraordinaire. Check out the full map of iPhone line imagery so far, and weep for our nation. Of course, there's no reason you can't become part of the problem -- submit your own line photos or Youtube videos to iphonelines@gmail.com (include city, location, and date/time), and we'll add them to the map. Check out Gizmodo's wall to wall iPhone coverage for maximum overdose.
