Lush Berlin Fashion
Berlin's fashion scene is full of indie mavericks. These rebels against uniformity have a growing prominence throughout the world. On a given day, you might see busloads of Japanese tourists admiring Konk's playful opulence, or visiting Europeans enduring the dismal walk on Invalidenstrasse in order to shop at Penkov. I myself was rather shocked at just how many designers are not slouching towards the fashion empires in other major cities, but instead are staying put and selling their works at boutiques here in Berlin.
Talking Means Trouble

Sisi Wasabi
Unter den Linden 26
10117 Mitte, Berlin, Germany
Sisi Wasabi is a mini-empire of gorgeous clothing, jewelry, and handbags. The Spring 2008 collection brings to mind Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's -- with … fabulous modern touches. Black and white silk is a running theme, as well as flirtatious satin bows and the occasional splash of fuchsia. Most notable of all are the slim-fitting trousers, tapered to perfection. It's in the heart of Berlin's main attractions, so there's no reason to miss out. [link]
Pulver Studio
Torstraße 199
10115 Mitte, Berlin, Germany
The designers behind Pulver are a perfect example of how four minds are better than one. The all-female collective seamlessly bring together their diverse sensibilities. … The result is a collection that's elegant, playful, tempestuous, and sober. Mothers and man-eaters alike have a place in these women's hearts. [link]
Lil *Shop
Brunnenstraße 184
10119 Mitte, Berlin, Germany
If there is one reason to walk on Brunnenstrasse, an otherwise uneventful mile, it's to visit this attractively graphic shop. Unlike its guerrilla store, the smaller shop … carries vintage collectibles from both CDG designer Rei Kawakubo and his protégé, Junya Watanabe. And Esther Perbandt (Berlin's it girl for all things black) has a prominent place on the shelves. [link]
Konk
Kleiner Hamburger Strasse 15, 10117 Berlin Germany
This ambiguously named shop is a showcase for Berlin's superstar fashion designers and jewelers. Each room is like a conceptual-art project. You can find C.neeon's … Contessa-like dresses, Otto Von Quast's quirky "veggie jewels," and coveted pieces by my favorite Berlin jeweler, Saskia Diez. Notable, too, are the kittenish dresses by independent Spanish designer, Cocotte Couture. [link]
C'est Tout
Mulackstraße 26
10119 Mitte, Berlin, Germany
Like Diane von Furstenberg, C'est Tout's dresses are deliciously salacious and agreeable to just about every figure. Whether you feel sexy with a plunging neckline or in … a baby-doll dress or if you're looking for the perfect black number, C'est Tout's latest collection has it all. It's a tempting shop. [link]
