Hipster Haircuts in Williamsburg

hipster%20haircuts%20in%20williamsburg%20new%20york.jpgI'll never understand people who spend hundreds of dollars on clothes, but balk at the price of a quality haircut. After all, your haircut is the only thing you wear absolutely every day. Regardless of price, nothing's more important than having a good cut -- or more horrifying than a bad one. Check out this list of salons in the 'burg to visit when you decide to finally give in and get that asymmetrical cut complete with bangs you've always dreamed of. No specific stylists names are mentioned, to protect those (me) who would still like to be able to get an appointment with their regulars.

Woodley & Bunny

490 Driggs Ave
Brooklyn, NY 11211

Woodley and Bunny has an awesome space, great cuts, and the prices to go with them. I've gotten my past two or three haircuts here and have been really happy with the results. Any stylist who can figure out a way to give bangs to a girl with wavy, fine hair definitely earns my respect. During your pre-shampoo consultation, stylists tell you everything they're planning to do, and sometimes even talk to you about things they want to correct that may be left over from your past haircut. Public Salon

101 Metropolitan Ave
Brooklyn, NY 11211

The epitome of what you'd expect for a more costly Williamsburg haircut, Public is housed in a very cool, open, airy space where the music is always topnotch. Cuts here are usually a little more trendy and edgy (think lots of asymmetrical cuts and bangs). I have one friend so in love with her stylist at Public that she goes for haircuts almost monthly, lets her do whatever she wants to her hair, and then they go out for a drink afterward. I guess if the person cutting your hair is willing to be seen with you after the cut, it's got to be pretty good, right? [link]

Mousey Brown Salon

732 Lorimer St
Brooklyn, NY 11211

You've probably walked by Mousey Brown a million times and wondered what was up with the cute little cottage on Bedford Ave. It houses a haircutting phenomenon, a salon that I can't find a single horror story or bad review about. Mousey Brown is awesome because they provide great haircuts for even the most difficult hair types (fine, curly, etc.) at a really decent price -- only $55 regardless of which stylist you end up with or the length of your hair. Beehive Salon

494 Lorimer St
Brooklyn, NY 11211

If getting a haircut stresses you out, one look at the decor inside the Beehive will set you at ease. Decorated with fun vintage salon items and bright colors, the attitude of the staff matches the fun, casual atmosphere. The stylists are friendly, chatty, and will listen to your myriad of concerns without batting an eye. I've had my hair cut by a different person almost every time I've gone here, and I've never had a bad cut. [link]
