SF Hangover-Helper Brunch
A survey was taken a few years ago whose results stated that San Franciscans consume the most books and booze of any major American city. Of course, those nights of poetry and bourbon tend to melt into mornings of nausea and stupor. With this in mind, it's indispensable to find that perfect place for coffee and grease in which to gingerly piece together your memories of the night before. Like all halfway decent places for hangover brunch, these places might have a wait, but these are abated by free coffee and/or awe-inspiring Bloody Marys.
Dottie's True Blue Cafe

San Francisco, CA 94102
Strong coffee and a huge line are a testament to this little joint's extreme popularity. The pancakes are sublime, and soak up both maple syrup and alcohol very nicely. … Sit at the counter to watch the head chef work his magic--it's a gorgeous thing to watch. Omelets, cornbread, and their trademark jalapeño jelly will gently bring you back to the land of the living.[link]

Chava's
2839 Mission St
San Francisco, CA 94110
A few years ago, we arrived in front of Chava's to find our friend, Flash-O-Matic, collapsed on the sidewalk, howling in indignation. Chava's had burned down. No … prizewinning gallons of birria to pour down our scarred throats, no huevos rancheros to sop up last night's cans of Tecate. We hung our heads as we dragged Flash back to bed, vowing that someday Chava's would rise again. Happily, that day came roughly six weeks after the place torched itself, and now Chava's sits fat and happy on Mission Street, serving all the same fab soups and gut-soothing egg concoctions as before. Slather everything in their homemade salsa, down a shot of tequila, and you'll be right as rain.[link]
Just For You
732 22nd St
San Francisco, CA 94107
So you went out to see a little brass band play some jazz last night. You vaguely remember someone playing a trumpet and handing you a bottle of whiskey at the same …
time, and that's about all you remember, until you finally bury your face in the powdered-sugar goodness of Just For You's homemade beignets. Those little fluffy pillows from heaven make everything okay again, as does the oyster-filled Hangtown Fry and the 2 eggs with Filipino Longanisa sausage.[link]
