American Airlines: Using "Intimidation" and "Damage Control" on One of Its Own
An American Airlines flight attendant is speaking out against the air carrier after being honored for saving a passenger's life with a defibrillator onboard a flight three years ago. At the award ceremony, instead of giving an acceptance speech, Alecia Lutz-Rolow "rejected the award, blasting the airline's maintenance, and calling American Airlines' management 'horrible.'" She claims the airline offered her the award only out of "damage control," saying that she received notice of the award this past February, four days after AA had a passenger die onboard a flight from a heart attack. She believes the family of the passenger is suing the air carrier, hence AA's attempt to save face three years after the fact. In an MSNBC interview after the jump, Lutz-Rolow goes on to explain that she's been on leave from the airline for almost 2 years as a result of their using "intimidation tactics" to try to get her to fly on an "unsafe" aircraft. I smell a scandal! [via]
