Last Minute NYE In NYC

Wednesday, December 31, 2008

newyearsevenyc123108.jpgTonight's the night. But you're still not quite sure what New Year's Eve party you're going to hit. Time is running out, so to save you the trouble of trying to narrow down the dozens of options of fetes taking place around the city we've done some of the legwork for you. Hit the jump for out selection of six spots that have you covered, whether you're priority is a 6-hour open bar, a high-profile DJ and/or the swankiest of swanky New Year's Eve crowds.

1

Soho Grand Hotel

310 W Broadway
New York, NY 10013

The Soho Grand Hotel is ringing in the New Year with an 80s-themed party. While the concept isn't exactly fresh, the event is sure to be just enough swank and danceable hits to keep you entertained well after the ball drops. Cover is a hefty $150, and the dress code is 80s glam. Doors open at 9pm and Shawn Regruto and Chris Sealey will be manning the decks.

Crystal Castles After-Party

213 N 8th St
Brooklyn, NY 11211

Expect a bevy of scenesters at this Williamsburg venue that will double as the after-party locale for Crystal Castles on NYE. A short walk from the Bedford L stop, it's easy access from anywhere in Manhattan. There's an open vodka and beer bar from 9pm-11pm, but there's no guarantee as to how crowded said bar will be. Your best bet is to get here early. Or to cough up the extra $50 it costs on top of the $30 entrance fee to land a table.

Tribeca Grand Hotel

2 Avenue of the Americas
New York, NY 10013

According to the invite, come NYE the "Tribeca Grand replicates the original Times Square ball drop in its spectacular 8-story atrium with a posh cocktail party in Church Lounge. Dress up like the Hollywood of yore and drink and dine in your finery as the clock counts down...downtown..." Cover charge is a cool $125, while reserve seating will cost you $249. Both include access to an open premium bar, as well as passed hors d'oeuvres and dessert.

Cipriani's

100 E 42nd St
New York, NY 10017

They may not have announced who'll be DJing this swanky affair, but in all likelihood it'll be a boldface name. $135 will grant you access to a 6-hour open bar, hors d'ouevres and party favors. Not to mention you can rest assured you'll be rubbing shoulders with a reasonably chic crowd all night.

Greenhouse

150 Varick St
New York, NY 10013

This may be one of the few ways to ring in the New Year in absolutely green fashion. This new downtown venue is throwing a rather decadent (albeit eco-friendly) affair that costs $125 [link]

6

Santos Party House

100 Lafayette St
New York, NY 10013

The Misshapes are co-hosting this NYE fete with Sophia Lamar. Everyone from owner Andrew W.K. and Gang Gang Dance to Lissy Trullie will be spinning. Expect a raucous dance party that will be increasingly crowded as the night progresses. Tickets are $65 at the door, but only $20 for after 4am. Our advice: get there early.
