New Yorkers can rest easy
New Yorkers can rest easy now; the renowned Red Hook Ball Fields food vendors (a favorite of foodies like Anthony Bourdain) will be around for at least another six years. It was rumored that the vendors might be shut down due to a lack of permits from the Parks Department, as well as health violations, according to the DOH. But, fortunately, now soccer fans and food-lovers of all sorts will be able to chow down on the various Latin American dishes served here as early as the opening of the season. [via]

Maybe it's the salt-and-pepper hair, the cigarette perpetually perched between his lips, or his exceptional appreciation for food and travel. Whatever the reason (and trust me, this is no daddy complex), I have long harbored a deep and profound fascination with Anthony Bourdain. The face of his No Reservations TV show, not to mention scribe of such foodie frenzy-inducing tomes as Kitchen Confidential and The Nasty Bits (and occasional advertiser on this website), Bourdain has become something of an icon younger generations of gourmands. While he spends the majority of his time on the road generating material for his show, he still calls the Big Apple home. Anthony Bourdain: No Fan of Ass Crack
On last night's Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, the host expresses correctly corrosive disdain for the spectacle of Sao Paulo's Carnivale. It's not so much the festival itself, but as Bourdain notes, you never see a movie or TV show with a moment in Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro without at least a few shots of those big-headed mask guys and a few bare besequined boobies.
