Cobble Hill Boutiques
Shopping in Brooklyn can be a little overwhelming if you don't know your way around. It's difficult to know where to go when commercial strips are more low-key than in Manhattan, making it hard to recognize a shopping opportunity when you see it. Cobble Hill is a perfect example of a neighborhood that's gained its popularity from quaint charm and sophisticated sensibility, and with great popularity comes great style. Here are a few of my best picks for independent clothing stores in the Hill.

Dive Bars of Atlantic Avenue
Tucked away down Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn is a treasure trove of great low-key divey and semi-divey bars. The neighborhood retains a lot of its "old New York" charm, refusing to succumb to the strollers of Park Slope or the prices of DUMBO. Easily accessible from the Atlantic Terminal, the bars seem to line themselves up for you and are never more then a few hundred yards staggering distance apart. The bars on Atlantic are a great and cheap way to spend the ever-dwindling Brooklyn summer nights.
