Le Fooding: Best Restaurant in Paris Pt. II
Here is our latest installment of Le Fooding's winners for best restaurant in Paris. Yesterday, we did a real amateurish job translating the review of award-winning resto Le Chateaubriand. Today, we'd look to its co-laurel holder for best restaurant in Paris, Sa.Qua.Na but we discover Sa.Qua.Na is actually in Honfleur, outside of Paris and therefore outside our purview. Instead we turn to Hotel Amour, which far from being a covert love hotel, wins the award for place to be seen.
This much is clear, no one pretends to come here for the food. The truth of the place lies elsewhere. Or rather, in everything else: tables and charis by Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouvé; rooms designed by Marc Newson amd Sophie Calle, photos by Terry Richardson, T-shirts by Rik Bas Backer, a "so trendy" ambiance at night, foosball in the basement, the sexy nonchalance of the servers and of course, the interior courtyard with dense vegetation and a fountain. This is where you must grab a drink or dinner to be seen with Andre, one of the founders of this couple hotel along with Emma de Caunes, Marie Modiano and Jean-Yves Lafesse. We love it, for its affectation, that is its achingly hip, fake bohemian feel,.The marinated beef isn't bad, the farm raised chicken and fresh gree beans is cooked well one out of every two times for 12 euros. Make sure to get a glass of Oratoire de la Pensière (4 €).
Jesus Christ, that's a lot of French to say basically, Pastis.
