Editorial Exit: Joshua David Stein
It's been 7 months and 10 days since I stepped into the captain's chair of Gridskipper. Now, dear readers, it's time for me to take my leave. I'll try to keep the nostalgic mooning to a minimum but I'd like to say that it's always been both a pleasure and an honor to helm Gridskipper. I've had the chance to work with a great team of contributors, the always outstanding Amanda Kludt and a selfless cabal of interns. But by far the best part was writing for such a stellar group of readers. With your ranks growing daily (we're up nearly 100,000 page view per month), you have kept me marginally honest and vaguely succinct but always feeling appreciated.
Whither Gridskipper? You'll all be happy, I'm sure, to welcome back into the bosom of Gridskipper, our fearless former leader Chris Mohney who, after a stint at Gawker and Valleywag, will be victoriously returning to the editor position at Gridskipper. Chris starts bright and early Monday, March 19th so be ready with coffee and a breath mint. Fearless soldier Amanda will stay on board and continue to spew out her precious posts.
As for me? I'll be heading to the greener pastures of the Gawker mothership to pretty much do what I do best here: report on restaurants, bars, chefs, nightlife, hotels, and real estate albeit with an all New York focus. I'll be reachable, shall you want to reach me, both at good ol' josh@gridskipper.com and, come Monday, the brand spanking new josh@gawker.com Good bye's just too good a word, so I'll just say, Fare thee well.
