Gridskipper Photo Contest: Rules & Guidelines
By participating in this contest, you agree to all scary legalese found in our Contest Rules. Submit to the contest at any time by adding your photos to the Gridskipper photo pool on Flickr. Every week, the editor of Gridskipper will select five photos from the previous week's submissions. These five photos will be posted on Gridskipper for reader vote. After one week, the photo with the most votes will be declared the weekly winner. Every five weeks, the most recent five weekly winners will be recollected and reposted for a final reader vote, again for one week of polling. Monthly winners will receive a free year of Pro account access on Flickr; or, if they already have a Pro account, they will receive an equivalent amount of credit with an online photo printing service.
Photos will be selected from the pool entirely at the editor's discretion. Weekly winners for the current month cannot be nominated again until the current month's contest is decided. Monthly winners are eligible to win again, and they may continue to submit photos and re-enter the contest like anyone else, as often as they like.
Photos with the best chance of editorial selection are urban first and foremost. Beyond that, we are prejudiced toward photos with visible human figures (faces especially), though this is not exclusive by any means. And beyond that, we like cool, fun, weird, sexy, hot, modern, nasty, artsy, cute, attractive, amusing, young, expensive, impressive, and so on. First cuts of photo selections are placed in the Gridskipper favorites section on Flickr; take a look for guidance on what we like around here. Note that there are no pretensions to either taste or consistency, as we are fickle bitches. Be sure to tag and describe all photos, especially noting the city in which they were taken.
Since Flickr does not yet support sets within pools, weekly nominees, weekly winners, and monthly winners will get special Flickr tags signifying their exalted status.
