Debriefer: Dlisted's Michael K

Friday, October 12, 2007

booyabooya%20%28Custom%29.jpgThe pen may be mightier than the sword, but the blog is truly the new weapon of choice. Michael K, creator and writer of Dlisted--one of the web's most popular and unforgiving gossip-blogs--is able to take on the ridiculous and give it a twist of the wit. You may be shocked and addicted, but as his site warns, be very afraid.

We're going to imprison you in the city of your choice for the rest of your natural life. You can do anything you want there, but you must stay in that city forever. Where would you choose?
NYC! You don't even to have to imprison me here. I'll stay here by choice. Whenever I travel outside of the city it feels like I'm going to another planet. It's not right, but it's okay.

Why would you live in this city forever and not somewhere else?
I have everything I could possibly need here. I like walking down the street and seeing all sorts of people and not the same cookie cutter dumbasses staring at me with judgmental eyes.

In what part of the city would you reside?
The Lower East Side.

Where and what would you eat?
I'm trashy so I'd probably eat at San Loco. Nachos with cheese and an horchata.

What would you do for fun?
I would sit outside of The Box with a glass of champagne and popcorn and make fun of the drunk douches that come out of that joint nightly.

Where would you go for a night on the town?
The Box and party with the drunk douches that I made fun of the night before.

What kinds of shops are worth going to?
Economy Candy, Odin, Love Saves The Day, Pearl River, Opening Ceremony, Kiosk Kiosk, Kmart.

And on the flip side: What city would you never, ever visit again, if you had a choice?
Orlando, Florida! That place is the dump of dumps!

Dlisted can be so snarky and deliciously off-kilter toward celebrities. Have you ever been personally contacted by a disgruntled celebrity? If not, do you have a response on hand, in case this should happen?
No celebrity has contacted me personally, but their lawyers have. I usually ignore that shit, but if they told me to my face I'd probably slap them. The nerve!

Which celebrity do you never tire writing about? What has been your favorite celeb story so far this year?
Britney! Britney! Britney! Seriously, I'm obsessed. The other day I wrote an entire post about Britney buying jelly beans at the Cingular store and that's when I knew I needed help. The fall of BS is definitely the greatest celeb story this year.

Debriefer is a weekly two-part series. On Fridays, we interview random individuals about their favorite cities. On the following Monday, we map their favorite places in those cities. If you'd like to be interviewed for Debriefer, let us know.
