Lucha Britannia

lucha%20brittania%20london.jpgKinda too brilliant in the abstract to ever measure up in the flesh, but worth taking the chance: Lucha Britannia is indeed a British take on Mexican lucha libre wrestling. Just a few of the contenders: Estupido the Human Torpedo, Ultimo Perversio, Leon Britanico, Metallico (pictured above), and ... Sir Thomas Chamberlain? The whole thing's set in a complicated dystopian backdrop involving an Orwellian fascist world government. And plus: there's rasslin' babes doing burlesque and other foolishness. The next match is tonight at the Bethnal Green Workingmen's Club; doors open at 7 p.m., with the "match" starting at 9 p.m.
