la-flea-market-main.jpgWhether you're short on cash, bored by the monotonous, mass-produced offerings of Pottery Barn et al, or simply harboring dreams of a big win on Antiques Roadshow, LA's various flea markets and swap meets offer an alternative shopping experience sure to enliven even the most jaded shoppers. From old school lunch boxes to classic LPs and antique housewares to vintage clothing, these Los Angeles flea markets will have you up to your ears in dirty deals.

Many of the half million items for sale across the 20-acre space are used, vintage, or genuinely antique. Here's an exercise in time travel: make the drive out to the City of Industry, spend a couple of hours hunting for bargains at the Vineland Swap Meet, and then hang around for a movie after the market closes and the drive-in theater opens. The swap meet is open seven days a week, and the drive-in is the only one operating in the Los Angeles/Orange County area. [link]

  • Update: A tipster writes that the "Valley indoor swap meet you have listed under flea markets is closed and has been since the beginning of the year. Many of the vendors that were at this swap meet have moved to the Vineland Indoor Shopping Plaza at 7200 Vineland Ave. Sun Valley, CA 91352."
