Downtown Farmers' Markets
A couple of weeks ago we posted a citywide overview of Los Angeles farmers markets. But if there's one thing we've learned from our inbox, it's that you people love yourselves some east of the 110 action. And since downtown is being overrun by farmers' markets catering to the billion or so people who gridlock the roads every afternoon, we're only too happy to oblige. Note that there's also a Silver Lake CFM just outside of downtown that's not included in this roundup, because fuck Silver Lake.

Bank Of America Plaza Market
333 S Hope St
Los Angeles, CA 90071
There are very few things in the world as objectively sad as watching 25,000 Deloitte cubicle monkeys blinking painfully into the bright sunlight, smiling emptily in … hollow joy at the prospect of getting out of work half an hour early on a Friday. But who are we to deny them these small moments of grace? Make sure not to get too distracted by the shiny stands of fruits and vegetables in the center of this Bunker Hill market -- there are also food stalls around the corner that are quite good. The BOA Plaza Market runs on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. [link]
7th and Figueroa Market
S Figueroa St & W 7th St
Los Angeles, CA 90017
7th and Fig is the center of the citywide effort to take one of American's great urban centers and turn it into a suburban strip mall fuckfest where even the most insipid … SUV soccer mom can feel comfortable relaxing in between a hard day of not giving a shit (a Starbucks and Gold's Gym and Sbarro all in the same place? How can one handle so much plenty?). It's also the home of one of the city's more successful Farmers' Markets. Originally the 7th/Fig market was just open on Thursday, but now you can get in on that action from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. That's triple the number of days you can shake your head judgmentally as you pretend to examine tomatoes so that the consumerist drones can see how genuinely enlightened people do their grocery shopping. Chinatown CFM
727 N Hill St
Los Angeles, CA 90012
The Chinatown CFM makes a special point of describing how it's "unlike any other in the region" because it features specialty "Asian produce." This confuses us for at … least two reasons. One: it is a fib, since the City Hall CFM uses the exact same line. Two: we have absolutely no idea what that means, but we do know that we had to erase this part of the post three times because we kept trying to include pretty irrelevant and frankly not very funny Lebowski references. This, however, we do understand: The Chinatown CFM is open on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m., hours seemingly crafted with our hungover existence in mind. Wednesday is the new Thursday. [link]
