Foot Food

120505.8.jpgHave you had your USRDA of chicken feet today? These are the markers of a good restaurant in Los Angeles: blatant health code violations, plenty of neon signage, and a prime run-down strip mall location. Many American cities offer their finest eating experiences in temples of refinement and class, but in LA we do it up old-world style. The nastier the surroundings, the better the food. NBC Seafood, out in the suburbs, has all of the elements above, plus rude cart pushers and fantastic Cantonese-style dim sum. In fact, I would venture that this was my most authentic LA dining experience yet -- if half your group manages to break their chopsticks on shu mai, you’ve hit a new high/low. Further photos of gastronomic excess after the jump (plus evidence that a Gridskipper intern will do anything -- anything! -- for 10 bucks).

[Props to Intern Katherine, plus $10, for eating the chicken foot. Let's give the young lady a ... hand. --Ed.]
