Tombstone Hold'Em: Necropolis Poker

Wednesday, October 4, 2006

rules.jpgThough conceived of in LA San Fran (see comment), Graveyard Hold'Em can be played wherever people die. The rules are simple, err, kind of. Graves are suites based on tombstone shape; face values are the last digits in the D.O.D. unless the tombstone has more than one person (2=Jack, 3=Queen, 4 or more=King). Played like a regular non-death hold'em but in reverse, the dealer deals 5 cards (real) and the teams of two set off in search of two pocket cards (graves). The only catch is the team must be able to touch both each other and the grave to claim a hand. Tempest fugit, you only have three minutes to find your cards. All you need is a cemetery, a deck of cards, a watch and no compunction about trodding on hallowed ground while engaging in what many consider a sin.
