SuperTour Hotel Panopticon

03012006.4.jpgI have to admit that even the cold, withered cockles of my cynical, jaded heart were titillated by the concepts at work in SuperTour. The site aims to provide a new level of virtual voyeurism when checking out prospective hotels. You zoom around a set of animated photorealistic waypoints, checking out the landscape and exteriors of various hotels in a particular urban area (so far, Miami Beach and Las Vegas are online). Floating blue orbs indicate another waypoint, perspective, or point of interest; hotels with more information have their names floating above them. Click anything and it takes you intuitively to that place, highlighting relevant data and scrolling the map appropriately. Interior virtualities of selected hotels are also viewable, and of course, you can book whichever joint suits your fancy. This sort of thing will either forcibly stimulate your gee-whiz gland or make you impatient to get just the facts, but it's hard not to get a kick out of zipping up and down the beach in Miami or the Strip in Vegas.
