Free Food in Paris
Maybe there is no such thing as a free lunch. But in Paris, there is such a thing as a free dinner, assuming you have enough change to buy yourself a drink. While it's true that many Paris bars are stingy about handing out so much as a peanut, you can actually score a good, filling meal at a select number of bar/restaurants for as little as a €3 glass of wine. We've always heard that restaurants make their money on the drinks, but we're not sure how these places -- mostly fun, crowded dives, many with the bonus of live music -- can afford to stay in business while cheerfully serving plates of hot, free couscous or moules frites to students, out-of-work actors, bloggers, and cheap dates. But we're not complaining, and neither will you.
