Chelsea Cafe

chelsea%20%28Custom%29.jpgWhen it comes to the areas I tend to cover here in Tokyo, Shinjuku is just not one of them. Sure, I can definitely imagine it being high on a list of areas to visit for someone new to the city -- it does get high billing in guide books -- but as a resident of Tokyo, it just doesn't really offer the sort of stylish or funky spaces I crave. Well, as a service to you all, I am now making it my new mission to try and hunt down the cool and the interesting in Shinjuku, and so I start with the Chelsea Cafe, located in the Mosaic Street outdoor area of the MYLORD -- religion-free -- shopping center (you access it from the station's south exit). Produced by the BAGEL&BAGEL chain, it's not exactly underground or indie (which you probably figured out just from the location), but the interior is decent and cafe-like, with the sandwiches on offer quite tasty -- not a bad club sandwich at all, as far as "remixes" go. It won't replace my Aoyama and Shibuya favorites, but well worth considering when in Shinjuku.
