It's official — Tokyo is now in pink! The last week of March and first week of April have got to be the best time of the year to visit Tokyo, with the cherry blossoms creating quite the memorable ambiance. You won't have any trouble spotting the sakura as you move around the city, but for some prime hanami (flower viewing), weekly cityguide Metropolis gives you the lowdown on where to go. With temperatures currently reaching comfortable highs (22 degrees centigrade today), I took my bike out and tried to catch as much pink as I could, culminating in an evening of lighted sakura at Yasukuni shrine and enjoying the festival atmosphere with all the food stalls. My favorite spot? Along Kanda river (pictured above) — from Ikebukuro station, follow Meiji street in the direction of Shinjuku, with Kanda river appearing after a 20-minute walk.
