Ian MacKaye is one good-natured punk. Articulate, pleasant to be around, and, it turns out, a great oral historian of D.C. Ditto that for Joe Lally, fellow Fugazi bassist, Alec MacKaye The Untouchables and the other hardcore icons who narrate "Capitol of Punk" a text-message walking tour of D.C.'s punk rock scene. What follows is a steady stream of history from some of pioneers of the US hardcore scene. The tours are pretty detailed and amazing. Felt I need to clear something up here. Not too sound snobby, but it's ian MACkaye, not MCkaye, which is important as he is the brother of alec mackaye, also mentioned in this post. I worked with Alec at the Phillips Collection a bit back (quite the righteous gent), and I find it amusing that he likely hung most of the Paul Klee show linked at the bottom of the post.
